New design for the organisation database

ETH Zurich’s organisation database displays the main organisational structure of ETH Zurich. It provides information about the valid names for organisational units, unit heads, identification numbers, addresses and much more.

Since February 2018, the organisation database's online site has had a new corporate web design. The menu navigation has been improved, while previous functions remain unchanged. These include e.g. various ways to display structures, the creation of lists by organisation type (e.g. departments, chairs, degree programmes, etc.) or searching for the heads of a unit.

Each unit can check how they are represented and categorised using the link provided. Questions and requests for alterations can be directed to the Controlling department. Request forms to open and modify guide numbers can be found on the
Finance and controlling website.

In the course of upgrading ETH Zurich’s resource and finance platform (project refine, only accessible with nethz login), particular importance is being placed on the organisation database. In the new finance system (starting on 8 January 2019), the opening and allocation of responsibility centers and cost centres will exclusively occur on the basis of information in the organisation database. The cost centres are comparable to the current funds for staff resources and ordinary credit.

To guarantee that the organisation database and the new finance system contain the correct structures, coordination to that end has been conducted since 2017 between the refine project, the Controlling department and the controllers of departments and service-oriented units.

The redesign of the database’s web design is being led by Andreas Jost via the IT Services and the Controlling department.
